Oh macarons, macarons… so what’s the fascination with these French meringue-like cookies? The first time I had them, well, I honestly don’t quite remember when (who does? It’s irrelevant), but it was quite heavenly. I was fascinated by the assorted macarons displayed in the shop window - so delicate, so cute, so colourful. I was very excited that I finally got to learn the secret behind the macaron!
Our class got all so excited about the colours we wanted for our macarons - lavender, orange, yellow, magenta, pink, green, and even blue! After almost a year, I had my first unguided attempt. Having no fancy colouring to choose from, I settled for natural flavouring –cocoa powder. For the filling, I mixed white chocolate with banana and rum. Piping it was a challenge. I had different sizes, ranging from 70a to 80c? ;) round and oval shapes and different consistencies! The second batch was slightly over-baked, hence a little crunchier. The perfect ones are those that are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. They were rather lovely to eat on their own, adding the filling just made them irresistible! Even my editor who is not a big fan of it, wanted to have more! An encouraging start, I’m happy. Looking forward to creating more exciting macarons! Some indigo macarons with kaya perhaps? That’s an idea ;)

Your macarons look awesome! Making them for the first time is so scary but then it's fun! I even made some micro-mini ones...one-bite macarons that pop into the mouth perfectly!!!
Perfection! Can't wait to taste it ;) *hint hint* keep some for me :)
Thanks Barbara :) and thanks to you, I finally plucked up the courage to have a go. I agree, those mini ones are just so cute and inviting! I love them ;)
Yes Mel I did reserve some for you! not many though, and I have to keep my editor away from your share ;)
