Why Orange Toque? And why on Queen's Day? Toque is the hat worn by a chef. Queen's day is a national holiday in the Netherlands that celebrates the birthday of the Queen. Orange is the Dutch national colour.
Yes everyone goes a little "nutty" for Orange on Queen's Day, even the cats and dogs are dressed in orange! And on Queen's day, everyone is allowed to sell things on the street (some rules applied though). So on 30th April 2011 Queen's Day, look out for Blue Flower Kitchen pastry. Yes, I'm selling my pastries! The Orange Toque is out! ;)
